Woods Hole is a fishing village with a great scientific heritage, including the Marine Biological Laboratory and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. It is a strolling village, full of great eating places, unique shops, beaches, and panoramic waterfront vistas. The island of Martha’s Vineyard is a 45 minute ferry ride away.


Directions

Woods Hole is 75 miles from both Boston’s Logan Airport and Providence’s T.F. Green Airport. Platelets 2008 will coordinate travel from Logan Airport to the conference venue in Woods Hole. The Marine Biological Laboratory website provides additional directions.


Climate

The weather in Woods Hole in October is pleasant during the day, with highs in the mid-60s (18°C), and cool in the evening, with lows in the mid-40s (7°C).


Housing

Housing will mainly be dormitory-style, at the Marine Biological Laboratory facility.


Clothing

Informal clothing is appropriate for all events.
